Aleksander Dębicz - Cedar Tree (feat. Jakub Józef Orliński)

 

Aleksander Dębicz's composition "Cedar Tree" from his latest album "Magnolia" provides the starting point for an extraordinary film illustrating the beauty that can blossom even in the darkest places. In this story of an unequal struggle between two opposing forces, light breaks through darkness to form a ‘human tree’ - the ‘Cedar Tree’. ‘Cedar Tree’ features four voices (all recorded by Jakub Józef Orliński), piano, horn, guitar, and synthesiser. Drawing on the screenplay and direction by Paweł Łukomski, movement director Michał Gerlach has worked with dancer and aerialist Agnieszka Gerlach-Stasieluk in special movements while suspended by her hair (a technique known as hair hanging).
